Beggars...stop or don't stop?

We see them everywhere...on the way  to walmart, when we are walking around down town and even on street corners.  We see them and we think about helping them and most of the time we don't.  I know I am guilty and think that they just spend their money on beer or smokes.  But who are we to decide who needs help and who doesn't.  When we see these people why don't we invite them to church or give them money or run to McDonalds really fast and grab them a burger!

Last night at my Bible study we read Acts 3:1-10
1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.  6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

While Kelly was reading me the scripture all I could think about was how many times I didn't have money to give but I did have Jesus.  So many times that I could have put my hand out there for someone to grab and I didn't I was too busy with my own life.......................................

It doesn't have to be the person begging for money it could be a friend who is having a rough time, or a love one who is upset.  WE NEED TO BE THE ONES TO PUT THE HAND OUT THERE FOR THEM TO HOLD ONTO! IF WE DON'T WHO WILL EVER HELP THEM UP..............................

  1. This is why daily prayer is SO important. Always good to remember those who are less fortunate than us.
